IN THE NEWS

P.E.I.’s fire marshal Dave Blacquiere said he’s ecstatic about a new product, called a Stove Guard

Consumer Reports tested the product and it “worked as advertised.” Blacquiere said he’s tried the device, too, and he’s impressed.

“We’ve preached the message that smoke detectors save lives and they do,” said Blacquiere.

“But these devices stop the problem before it starts.”

the #1 Cause of Home Fires

Stove Guard sensorStove Guard power box

Electronically controls power to the stove
  • A Sensor/Timer Unit electronically monitors the kitchen cooking area & manages a Power Control Box, controlling power to the stove.
  • Stove Guard controls the 240-volt power to the stove, including the oven, but does not disturb the 120-volt power. The stove light & appliance outlet found on most stoves should not be affected.
Installation is a "plug in" retrofit for most stoves
  • The Power Control Box is "plugged in" between the stove wall outlet & stove plug cord.
  • The Sensor Unit is mounted to the underside of a cabinet or on the wall near the stove. Never mount the Sensor Unit directly above the stove
Operates in 2 easy-to-use Modes
"AUTO" Mode uses a Motion Sensor to constantly monitor the user’s presence.
  • If the user is in the cooking area of the kitchen, the timer does not count down, the stove has power.
  • If they leave the kitchen, the timer starts to count down and will shut off power to the stove after a preset time.
  • When they return to the kitchen area, and are detected by Stove Guard, the timer will automatically reset to the last setting & turn power to the stove back on.The default timer setting is 1 minute, with a timer range up to 39 minutes

After a power outage, or when first installed, Stove Guard will automatically turn itself On and start monitoring in “AUTO” Mode. It will shut off power to the stove 1 minute after it last senses motion in the kitchen cooking area.

"TIMER" Mode acts as a countdown timer.
  • The Motion Sensor is disabled.
  • Power to the stove will be shut off after the preset time has expired.
  • The countdown time can be set up to 99 minutes.
The Stove Guard Owner's Manual provides complete and detailed instructions for Installation and Use. These are provided with each unit and are also available for download & printing from the website in pdf. format (requires Adode Reader).
